In addition to a variety of works by POS members this year’s exhibition at the Bield will feature the work of LUCY POETT, ARBS, SWA,VAS, a sculptor and painter born and brought up in Scotland who studied briefly at the Heatherly School of Art in London where she was introduced to working in clay by Cubitt Bevis. Returning to Scotland Lucy worked under Scott Sutherland at Duncan Jordanstone College of Art.
Her portraits in bronze include commissions of Sir Alec Guinness, Virginia McKenna OBE and Patrick Leigh Fermor. She has travelled in Africa, India and the Middle East and is fascinated by the faces of the desert people. Her love of animals is shown in many drawings, paintings and sculptures.
Lucy exhibits regularly at the RSA and in London. She has life size Bronzes installed of Sandy Irvine Robertson CBE in Leith, and a Highland Bull and Drover at Dingwall.
The Showcase Exhibition, in the beautifully landscaped setting of The Bield – which last year attracted more than 1000 visitors – will include examples of work from many of this year’s Open Studios (POS) participating artists and makers. It is intended to showcase the range of work on offer in our 139 venues across Perthshire and will also include three resident artists who will be happy to talk about their own work or provide information about the event in general.
Pitlochry Festival Theatre
The River Room at The Pitlochry Festival Theatre on the banks of the River Tummel is the setting for a second ‘Taster’ Exhibition of our artists’ work.
This is another opportunity to see original art work and to use the free guide to decide which venues to visit to see artists at work in their own studios and workshops.
Plan a day out, perhaps taking in a show, enjoying a meal in the theatre restaurant and viewing the work of some of Perthshire’s finest artists.
The exhibition runs from the 1st – 28th SEPTEMBER. Open daily from 10.00am
Directions: Take the exit for Pitlochry on the A9 and follow the signs for Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
