Woolshed31 - 53 - Plum Route

Woolshed31 -

I love colour and texture, and express this in the yarns I make. This year I will have interesting fibres, yarns and indigo dyed fabrics to sell. However I prefer  to help people find their own route into creativity by offering courses and workshops to get people excited about making things for themselves.

As a geographer, I look at the landscape in a more analytical way than most artists.
As a lecturer in horticulture and conservation I can use both garden and wild plants (often weeds!) to make dyes, and am always experimenting. I get up hills and find inspiration there.
As a former sheep farmer, I know fleece well, and can work from raw materials.
As a teacher I can put workshops together to get the most out of a session. But I love the fun and novelty I can bring to people when they try new ideas.
Life’s too short to be too serious – the possibilities to extend your skills are huge!
